"My heart sinks along with the ship as I watch her go down. It is unbelievably cold, and I can't begin to imagine what it's like in the water. At this point, we are a good distance from her, and her drowning, freezing passengers.
A woman is arguing with the officer on the boat. She wishes to go back, to save a few passengers. He refuses, and he does well to do so. Has the cold affected her brain? The people are panicing in the water, they would surely capsize the boat in the process of getting on. Then we would all die a horrible, frightening death. I admire her for wanting to save some lives but...
Her attempt at a 'rescue' would cost even more lives, but I'm sure she doesn't see it that way. Besides, it is far too late. Titanic and many of her passengers are gone, and we will never see her again."
As we all know, the tragedy of Titanic took many lives, including those of men, women, and children. When something like this happens, someone has to take the blame, right? It's only natural for us to assign blame to others when something doesn't go our way. It is impossible to convince someone to blame no one for such a tragedy, so the question remains; Who is to blame for the sinking and the major loss of life from the Titanic?
Let us start with Captain Smith. I believe he is in fact partly to blame. Partly being a keyword. As the Captain, he is responsible for everything that occurs on the Titanic. Titanic was going at almost maximum speed when they hit the ice berg. Not only did that make the gash in the ship's hull longer, going at fast speed proved to be "extra-fatal" for another reason, which I will get into later.
Next on the list is Captain Lord, of the Californian. He saw the emergency flares the Titanic was shooting into the air, and he did not come to the ships aid. Why not? It's simple really; the Titanic was of the White Star Line, it was the picture of luxury! And what do they do on luxury ships? They shoot fireworks. Guess what an emergency flare looks like sometimes? Okay, okay, I think you get what I'm saying. He thought they were shooting fireworks, and so he thought they were perfectly fine. In my opinion, he should not be to blame. After all, when you say that God can't sink you, people tend not to worry about you. Oh, how that backfired.
The group that I truly believe deserve NO blame, none whatsoever, is the crew manning the life boats. Most did not go back to save the victims in the water, and that was the right choice. As I said before, the boat would have capsized. In fact, all the boats that went back DID capsize. You can't save everyone, and these crew members knew that. If they had gone back, the passengers in the boats would have died along with everyone else, and the loss of life would have been greater.
Now on to the engineers and the White Star Line. Unlike the crew on the life boats, I believe these two deserve most of the blame. Let's start with the boat itself: The Titanic had loose and bad quality rivets, and you can imagine how that affected the sinking. Even worse, the metal on the Titanic was not conditioned properly. It could not withstand such cold waters, especially at the speed it was going. The metal became brittle, and when she hit the ice berg, Titanic's hull shattered. Because the gash was so long, water flooded quite a few compartments, and the ship couldn't handle it. Both the engineers and White Star Line are to blame for this, because the engineers built it, and White Star Line allowed it to sail even after an inspection. However, White Star Line has something else on there shoulders; there were not anywhere near enough life boats, and the life boats were not filled to capacity, some not even half full.
Because of these reasons, Titanic sank, and took around 1300 passengers with her. May they, and the crew, rest in peace.

"I am" poem.
I am intelligent and strange
I wonder when the statue of liberty will fall
I hear blue
I see music
I want the world to be at peace
I am intelligent and strange
I pretend no one is watching
I feel sharp, natural, and flat
I touch my thoughts
I worry about where will end up
I cry when I am lost
I am intelligent and strange
I understand the world is not perfect
I say no one tries hard enough
I dream that one day war will be over
I try to tolerate those I dislike
I hope to make something of myself
I am intelligent and strange
I wonder when the statue of liberty will fall
I hear blue
I see music
I want the world to be at peace
I am intelligent and strange
I pretend no one is watching
I feel sharp, natural, and flat
I touch my thoughts
I worry about where will end up
I cry when I am lost
I am intelligent and strange
I understand the world is not perfect
I say no one tries hard enough
I dream that one day war will be over
I try to tolerate those I dislike
I hope to make something of myself
I am intelligent and strange
